So some of you may know that my desktop computer said it's last harrah last week. It was a weird day of power outtages in Irvine, and when I got home to turn on my computer all I got was a loud bang. Chris and I don't think it was a power spike because my computer had been off all day long, but whatever, it died.

So Chris researched some computers and then he and I went to Best Buy. I had a flat screen monitor, but it was fairly cheap and kind of small. Well we got a blowout package deal with a 19" monitor and a printer (that's still in the box.) I always thought he didn't like Gateway, but I guess it's good enough for me.

Currently 1 gig of memory (soon to be 3; the other 2 have been ordered.)
AMD 5000+ processor
Gforce 7100 GS video card
320 gig of hard drive space
LG widescreen monitor with DVI (they were sold out of the gateway ones)

And I'm running (leaning) Vista and Office 2007.

I'm loving it!

And I FINALLY got my car back from the auto shop. I'd had that rental for 38 days. I feel like I am learning to drive my car all over again.

And we went to Irene's MeCHA / Raza graduation for her double major of Political Science and Chicano Studies. Most of the ceremony was in Spanish, but I still cheered for her and friend who went to Chile with her. And of course we got to have Mexican food afterwards. It's been a very productive day.

So tonight I took my dad out to dinner for father's day. For those of you who didn't know; mom and I haven't been speaking since an incident over a hockey game. So she and I kind of patched things up, but she suggested that just he and I go out.

Fine by me, that means I only have to pay for two meals for father's day instead of three. I couldn't think of a dinner alone with dear old dad except when I was 6, mom was out visiting her mom, and he took me to Bob's Big Boy and I was still wearing my sleeping beauty nightgown. I asked for pancakes and the cook put a smily face on my pancakes with that super hard candy frosting.

So tonight we went to our usual ("Spagehetti Bender" to the locals; "Papa Lorenzo's" to my family and I.) It was the best "family dinner out" I can remember having - ever. Dad and I got our "usuals" and a caraf of wine and just chatted about everything - from his days fighting in Vietnam to the current problem of immigration and terrorists. Normally mom and I dominate the conversation and my dad just kind of sits there. But not tonight. It was really friggin nice to just have dinner with dad and have that father / daughter time.

What a great way to end the weekend.
