scanners and organizing
Feb. 15th, 2008 11:01 amI'm interested in getting a not-too-expensive scanner and am looking for suggestions. My primary desire is to scan:
* legal documents like my trust
* tax stuff (and then have it organized as "tax year 2007," etc.)
Secondary desire would be to scan old photos.
It seems that a lot of scanners focus on picture quality, but text quality sucks unless you spend $500.
I've seen cool products on the market, but they seem to be focused only on receipts, which would be fine if I was a business owner, but I'm not, and I'm ditching the notary stuff when it expires next year.
Naturally these products have oh-so-cool organizing systems which not only categorize your receipts, but can also give you a chart to show your spending patterns. While this is a fantastic financial tool, the price tag of $200 is a bit prohibitive. (I wonder what their chart would say when I scanned that receipt!)
My current system of a very large shoebox is a bit cumbersome since I keep it stashed under my messy desk. It would be nice to have a nice organizing system for hardcopy stuff as well as a scanner to scan what I dont need originals of.
Oh hell, I need an organization system for the whole house...
So if anyone has any ideas or recommendations, they would be much appreciated.
