Mariner's Church review
May. 4th, 2008 01:09 pmLoved it.
It was only slightly over an hour instead of Saddleback's 1.5+ hour services.
It had a lot of similiar things as Saddleback, so it wasn't complete shell shock, and they are things I like in a church.
It didn't feel as over the top as Saddleback is starting to get already has been feeling.
The pastor said "CRAP," ha ha ha.
The pastor talked about real life stuff (money, the recession, stress over making ends meet, consumer debt) and used the bible A LOT.
No fill in the blank cards to dumb it down.
The music was a lot of the same with some old classics like, "Holy, holy, holy" thrown in. (It's not the Saddleback Overdrive (rock music) venue, but that just makes me want to download more Christian rock anyways instead of only listening to it on Sundays.
They have this big field and tons of toys and footballs and kickballs and stuff for families and kids. That was cool.
They have a "cafe" that looks like Starbucks meets Sonshine Christian bookstore. You can also watch church in there on flatscreens.
They only have a few thousand members instead of 20-thousand.
Next week they are having a free lunch for single moms to celebrate them. It makes me want to drag the woman I referred to in last night's post.
I asked Chris and he agrees, we're going back next week.
