Just like any other night

This made me laugh (an e-mail correspondence with a friend) My answers are in bold black font.

What did you do last night?

Went to Steelhead for dinner and drinks with friends, went home and trimmed the tree in the backyard while listening to the RNC at full volume, edged and mowed the grass, swept up the back patio and cleaned off the table and chairs, took out the trash, walked the dog, went to Rite Aid, and watched Rescue Me.

Good God – you did all that?  Had dinner and drinks with friends, stopped for ice cream on the way home – because if you eat fish and french fries, you might as well go the whole 9 yards, watched television while eating the ice cream and then hit the sack.

Falling asleep

I've been reading over the various bills that are up for vote on the hill (Congress is in recess right now) while I want for some folks to return my calls. I feel like I'm falling asleep. Tonight, I'm going to go to the gym.

Misc. thoughts

Russia just beat Team USA 3-1 in World Cup hockey. I sure hope that the players and the NHL can come to terms this season so we can have our hockey.

Being the lactose-intolerant weirdo that I am, I tried soy milk for the first time tonight. The consistency absolutely creeped me out. No one should drink anything this thick. I made some pasta with it. I can't imagine using it again just because of the way it looked coming out of the carton.

It is so fucking hot here. It's 6:30 p.m., and 85 degrees in my hallway. At least we don't have a hurricane bearing down on us. I have two friends in Florida - one of them has already had to evacuate. The other was supposed to be vacationing in the Keys, but I'm going to bet that got cut short... I haven't heard from her yet.
